What we Desire Requires Getting Out of the Comfort Zone!

The beginning of the year is that sweet spot where we collectively begin imagining possibilities to fill the fresh new year before us that is inviting us to try again, begin again and to once again attempt to create all we desire.

The energy and anticipation can feel so potent, so exhilarating and our intentions for greater yet to be so possible! We start strong and then, lo and behold around mid-January we settle back into our old familiar patterns and ways of being.

When we set intentions or resolutions what we really are doing is acknowledging that we need to move out of our cozy limited comfort zones. And this, my friends, is no easy feat! It requires faith, trust and a willingness to be uncomfortable for a while!

Goal and resolution setting and even visioning don’t work on their own for many reasons. First of all, the comfort zone is our mind’s way of attempting to keep us safe and protected from the great “unknown”, which is everything outside of the comfort zone.
Everything you desire is outside of the comfort zone.

When we near the edge of our comfort zones there is a gatekeeper there called “sabotage”, who will do everything it can to prevent us from leaving the limited quarters we are experiencing life through. It will bring up all the "False Evidence Appearing Real" (FEAR) it has against us to talk us back into playing it safe, remaining small, and staying stuck.

Sabotage is a trickster whose tactics include procrastination, luring us into self-sabotaging behaviors not aligned with our authentic self, (the us beyond the comfort zone) like reverting back to old destructive patterns and avoiding our soul calls. It taunts us with our disempowering beliefs, past choices & ways of being. It compares us to others who appear to be experiencing more of what we desire with shaming digs that are meant to convince us that what we seek is not possible, not for us anyway.

With strong intention, we may be able to make it out of the restricted space that we’ve spent most of our life in, only to be met with another preventer of possibilities called doubt. Doubt will meet us just outside of our comfort zones and try to convince us to immediately turn around and go right back to where we came from.

The good news is that when doubt shows up it means we are closer to our desires than we realize!

Once we leave the comfort of what we know and enter the great big sky of the unknown/great mystery where infinite possibilities exist, doubt will attempt to stun us back into submission with its tactics of trying to convince us that we are not ready, not prepared, not good enough and not worthy of what we desire or long to experience.

While I’ve never experienced jumping out of a plane, I have jumped out of my comfort zone many times and just like jumping out of a plane, doubt creates immense fear in us when we breach our comforts zones making us feel like we have jumped without a parachute!

The New Year can cause us to do just that, jump without a parachute towards the open sky of potentiality.

In order to make our leap into new possibilities successful, we must have a parachute that will allow us to soar with our vision, purpose, and new possibilities!

What is this metaphorical parachute I am speaking of that will allow us to successfully soar towards our visions?  It is an inner safety net created by updating our subconscious minds with supportive information; empowered beliefs, purposeful patterns, and embodied strengths and wisdom from our journeys thus far.

Setting goals, resolutions without an intact “parachute” will put a big, “return to sender” stamp on our letter to the Universe asking for something greater.  Returned we will be, back to the comforts of our old digs called the comfort zone.  Comfort zone, such an oxymoron, isn’t it? There is nothing comfortable about living limited.

To expand out of our ways of playing safe and small, we need to let our subconscious minds in on our plans. It isn’t trying to hurt us; it’s trying to help us by staying with the programming it currently has.
To reframe a line from one of my favorite movies, “Jerry McGuire” the subconscious mind is simply saying, “help me, help you!”.

So, don’t just set resolutions, goals or visions for the New Year, create complete and detailed imagery of what it will look like, feel like and be like to achieve your desires. (Take a sacred SOUL Visioning class with me!)

Then when you jump out into the great beyond of possibilities in the New Year, you not only will be jumping with a powerful parachute to hold you up, but you will also have the best chance of fulfilling your vision by landing on a solid, safe foundation of supportive beliefs and patterns to build your new way of being and life on.

Happy New Year to Be who we were created to be and to experience all we long to experience!

Get your parachute ready and let’s jump into this New Year prepared to soar into our highest possibilities together.

See you out there!
